Purpose and Philosophy
The Goshen Garden Club awards up to $2,000 in scholarships to students requesting financial assistance and who wish to further their education in Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscaping Design, Conservation, Forestry, Botany, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Environmental Control, Land Management, Ecology, Horticultural Therapy and other related fields. The number of recipients and award amounts are determined by the Scholarship Committee.

Criteria for Application
- Student must be graduating or graduated from Region 20.
- Student must be planning to attend an accredited two or four-year college or university on a full-time basis.
- The program of study must be as outlined above.
- Student must be in good standing academically.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic and personal achievement and demonstrated interest in one of the above or related fields of study.
The application must be submitted by mail to Victoria Bothroyd, Chairman of the Goshen Garden Club Scholarship Committee, 209 Milton Rd, Goshen, CT 06756. The deadline is April 15th.
Applications must be accompanied by the following:
- A transcript of the student’s school record.
- Two letters of recommendations, one academic and one personal.
- A descriptive essay explaining the student’s career and academic goals (100 word minimum).
Students receiving scholarships will be recognized at the Wamogo AG Ed Banquet.
In addition, recipients will be invited to receive the scholarship checks at the June, July or August Goshen Garden Club meeting. The meetings are generally held the first Thursday of each month.

2024 scholarship recipient
Rosemary Bonaguide, President of The Goshen Garden Club, is shown presenting the award to Nicholas Boggio of Plymouth, the recipient of the 2024 Scholarship. He is the son of Kelly and Michael Boggio. Nicholas is a graduate of WAMOGO High School in Litchfield and a member of the National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, the Timber Team and Future Business Leaders of America. His community service has included working with the Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut for seven years.
Nicholas will be attending SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, New York beginning with the 2024 Fall semester.

2023 scholarship recipient
Goshen Garden Club president, Rosemary Bonaguide, is awarding the 2023 scholarship to Kyle Joray. Kyle is a 2022 graduate of Wamogo High School and has completed his freshman year at Paul Smith’s College in New York. His academic goal is in the field of ecological forest management with a minor in Geographic Information System (GIS).

The Goshen Garden Club is pleased to announce that Kyle Joray is the 2022 recipient of their annual scholarship.
Kyle resides in Goshen with his parents David and Joanne Joray and is a graduate of Wamogo High school. This Fall Kyle will continue his education at Paul Smith’s College in New York. His academic goal is in the field of ecological forest management. Each year the Goshen Garden Club has awarded a scholarship to a graduating Wamogo senior, who are pursuing studies that reflect an interest and appreciation of our natural environment. We wish Kyle continued success as he furthers his education at Paul Smith’s College.

2021 Scholarship Recipient
The Goshen Garden Club is pleased to announce that the 2021 scholarship has been awarded to Ashley Buick of Goshen.
Ashley is graduating from Wamogo High School and will be attending Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. Her plans are to major in biology with a minor in ecology. Ashley’s outstanding academic accomplishments, community volunteering and her career goals made her an excellent choice.
Each year Goshen Garden Club awards a scholarship to graduating Wamogo seniors, who are pursuing studies that reflect an interest and appreciation of our natural environment.

2020 Scholarship Recipient
The Goshen Garden Club is pleased to announce the 2020 scholarship has been awarded to Ethan Cook of Morris.
Ethan is the son of Eric and Brandy Cook. He is a recent graduate of Wamogo High School and is attending Paul Smith’s College, in New York, this fall. His major is Arboriculture and Landscape Management.
Ethan’s academic accomplishments, volunteering, and career goals reflect his appreciation of nature, commitment to his community, and his dedication to improving the quality of the outdoors. Each year the Goshen Garden Club awards scholarships to graduating Wamogo seniors, who are pursuing studies that reflect an interest and appreciation of our natural environment.
