    Members of the GGC attended the Federated Garden Club of CT Annual Awards lunch and we were honored to receive 4 awards. A certificate of Achievement in Conservation for our support in the Trees for Goshen project; an Award of Excellence for our dedication to Healing, Therapy, & Senior Gardening; Catherine Mosey received the Ellen Carder Memorial Award for her years of leadership with Town Beautification and Lynne Deloy received a certification of Appreciation for her work in increasing our Publicity. We are so proud of the work we do for our community and very grateful for the recognition

  • FIELD TRIP to Wethersfield Gardens and Estate Amenia, NY

    FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 2025 9:30AM @ the Goshen Congregational Church

    We will be carpooling. Admission to the gardens is $10/person and tickets may be purchased on site.  Lunch to follow at The Blackbird Bistro in Wassaic, NY about a 15-minute drive from the gardens. 

    Carpools will leave the church at 9:30…it is roughly a 45-minute drive.  We will have two hours to enjoy the estate till 12:15pm, then head for lunch at 12:30pm.

  • april 24, 2025 pop up TRIP TO Colorblends House and Spring Garden in Bridgeport, CT

    Two hour tour and then lunch @ The Little Barn in Shelton, CT.

    Members, please email Mary Ellen Kennavane @ [email protected] to reserve your spot. There are limited seats available on the bus. Please RSVP if you are planning to attend so we have an accurate head count. Bus leaves the church @ 9:30am, with an approximate 3:30pm return.

    Dr. Benfield has been a Professor at Central Connecticut State University
    where he taught courses in Human Geography, Plants, Predators and Parks.
    He is an internationally recognized scholar on Garden Tourism.
    Non-members are welcome at $10/per person.

    Mr. Trecini has degrees in landscape design and landscape architecture. He has
    written articles for several prestigious publications including The Connecticut
    Gardener Magazine and The Old Farmer’s Almanac. He has served as a landscape
    display judge for the Connecticut Flower and Garden Show.

She is a former head gardener for the town of Monroe and co-founder of Hilltop Blooms – growers and sellers of unique perennials, shrubs and cut flowers.

    BRUSH HILL GARDENS on THURSDAY, JUNE 27TH.  These highly-acclaimed gardens were created by Barbara Paul Robinson and her husband, Charles at their private home in Washington, CT. Barbara was the first woman partner at the law firm Debevoise & Plimpton; and served as the first woman president of the New York City Bar Association.  

    She worked in England as a gardener for Rosemary Verey at Barnsley House and then for Penelope Hobhouse at Tintinhull.  She is a frequent speaker and has published articles in the New York TimesHorticultureFine Gardening and Hortus, as well as two of her own books.     Lorraine is an expert horticulturist with many magazine articles, social media writings
    and books to her credit. She is an instructor at the New York Botanical Garden and
    in the Connecticut Master Gardener Program.

    Catherine Wolko “Pollinators & Their Effect on our Ecosystem”

    Catherine is a second generation Beekeeper and owner of The Humble Bee Honey
    Company and The Hive @ The Pin, a Farm Store and Honey House located in
    Oakville, Ct. She is a member of The Connecticut Farm Bureau, The American
    Beekeepng Federation and the Back Yard Beekeepers Association. She has spoken at
    local community schools and libraries, Symposiums and Land Trusts throughout
    Connecticut.

    The lecture will begin at 1:00p.m. and non-members are welcome at $10 per person.

    Andrea Candee MH, MSC is the speaker for our February meeting. She will present “The Healing Power of Herbs.” She specializes in chronic Lyme Disease and its viral co-infections. She is the author of Gentle Healing for Baby and Child (Simon & Schuster) and has been awarded the National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval. She also has a DVD: The Healing Kitchen.
